New Years Day 2022⚓︎

Dear Jackson,

It's the start of a new year and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible little boy you are.

To say you're growing up so fast is an understatement. You're running around everywhere, talking up a storm and you're developing such a great sense of humor. You love playing hide and go seek, peek-a-boo and you love making silly faces at your mom and I.

You're two years old now so it goes without saying that you're challenging at times, but your mom and I look forward to each and every day. I read something a few months back that changed my entire outlook on little kids. It said something like "your child isn't giving you a hard time; they're having a hard time." It's allowed me to work past some of the challenges and helped me to remember to put myself in your shoes. The world is still new, and although you're more aware of some of it, there's so much that you still need us to help you with.

There are so many things happening in your life right now...

  • Transitioning into a new bed in a new room
  • Daycare
  • Wearing a mask in public due to Covid-19
  • The upcoming birth of your sister

You're already doing such a great job with all of these changes and your mom and I couldn't be more proud as to how well you're handling it all. You don't let anything slow you down and you have a natural curiosity. This will serve you well through the years and I'll be there to make sure you never forget it.

This year is going to be even more challenging with the birth of your sister, but your mom and I both know that you're going to be a fantastic big brother. You're a special kid and were both so incredibly proud of you.

Happy New Year, Jackson.

Love always, Dad
