Pre-K Graduation⚓︎

Dear Jackson,

I had planned on writing this sooner since your graduation was on June 7th and it's now June 20th, but life seems to have caused me to push this letter out a bit later than I had hoped. However, in that time, it's given me a bit more time to reflect.

I still can hardly get over that you're a pre-k graduate. I had told you this recently when taking you to school that it feels like you've been around forever, even though it's only been just shy of 5 years. 5 years of watching you grow into the most wonderful little boy I could ever ask for.

You've accomplished so much and you're so unbelievably smart for your age. Seeing you adapt so well to pre-k this past year has been nothing short of amazing. You come home every day with stories about things that have gone on, stuff that you've learned, and the friends that you've made. You even often want more homework! May you always want to strive for more and achieve everything you set out to do.

All your teachers (Ms. Sabatino & Ms. Gabby, as well as Ms. Diane at aftercare) can't say enough good things about you. Ms. Diane just told me last week that she believes you're going to go far in life, and I couldn't agree more. In this year alone (while not a complete list by any means), you've accomplished the following:

  • Learned the alphabet (reading and writing)
  • How to count past 200 (probably more, but that's how good you already are)
  • How to write your name (first name and last name)
  • How to read and write sight words (high frequency words to develop reading skills - "the", "and", "is", "it", etc.)
  • How to draw pictures (your houses, cats, dogs, cars, trees, and people are fantastic)
  • Coloring inside the lines (outside the lines are fine too, as I always remind you)

Again, this is by no means an exhaustive list, but just a few noteworthy accomplishments in such a short amount of time.

To sum it all up, you're doing all the right things. When I was watching you at graduation, I couldn't believe that I was able to be even more proud of you than I already was. I was so excited for you, in the days leading up to graduation, during graduation, and now beyond graduation. Your potential is limitless, and I can't wait to see all the incredible accomplishments you're going to make in the years to come.

This is only the beginning. Keep reaching for the stars, and know that I believe in you.

Love Always,

Dad
